The Rhythm of Life Singers

The Leveson Centre ( is a support centre for people living with cancer. It is fully funded and managed by York Against Cancer (

The wonderfully joyous choir that is open to everyone and is based at The Leveson Centre every Tuesday morning is called ‘The Rhythm of Life Singers’. Nicola Betts has been the Musical Director for The Rhythm of Life Singers since September 2023.

Singing in a choir, particularly for individuals facing health challenges, offers profound therapeutic benefits that extend beyond the physical. Singing greatly improves our emotional, mental, physical, and social wellbeing, with a decrease in stress, depression, and anxiety as studies show. The Leveson Centre provides a sanctuary where people can find solace, strength, and connection. Our choir, The Rhythm of Life Singers housed at the Leveson Centre brings people together through the power of singing collectively. It is joyous, friendly and uplifting, and creates a supportive network and a wonderful sense of camaraderie and hope that will help to boost your emotional resilience and sense of overall well-being in the midst of life's challenges .

Music has the power to heal the soul, lift our spirits and soothe our hearts - even in the face of life's greatest challenges.
